Mashonaland East has powered Zimbabwe handball since the early 2000s, hosting provincial championships in Marondera and Goromonzi. The Mashonaland East Handball League was created to unite clubs from Wedza, Murewa, Mutoko and Seke, giving young talent a competitive platform and a direct pathway to the national team and IHF Zone VI tournaments.
